Wildridge Education's 'Math & The Cosmos' named finalist for prestigious Association of Educational Publishers award Newark, Vt. (May 9, 2002) – Wildridge Education, a division of Wildridge Software, Inc., today announces that Math & The Cosmos, a unit of its A Bigger World interdisciplinary curriculum, was named a finalist in the annual Distinguished Achievement Awards sponsored by the Association of Educational Publishers in the Young Adult-Multimedia Instructional Materials category.
Math & The Cosmos was honored as an innovative and content-rich program to supplement middle and high school curriculum. Math & The Cosmos, a stand-alone unit within A Bigger World, emphasizes the practical value of fundamental math skills by integrating mathematics, astronomy, physics, Greek literature and history through a variety of media. More than 1,000 products were submitted for this year's awards in Print, Technology, Instructional Materials, and Marketer categories. "We are delighted to be named a finalist for a Distinguished Achievement Award for the second year in a row," said Lawrence Bangs, president of Wildridge Education. "To be named a finalist by our educational publishing peers again this year means that our integrated approach to middle and high school curriculum is the benchmark for educational excellence that we were striving for when we began creating A Bigger World. Educators, who are increasingly turning to The Association of Educational Publishers for guidance in selecting their classroom resources, can rest assured in making their instructional materials purchase from Wildridge Education." The Association of Educational Publishers' Distinguished Achievement Awards including the highest award, The Golden Lamp, recognize educational products that set the highest standard in the educational publishing industry. For nearly 40 years this has been awarded to products that exemplify excellence in educational publishing and serve as a model for other publishers. For additional information about the awards and a description of the significance of each category, visit the Association of Educational Publisher's website at www.edpress.org About ‘A Bigger World’ A Bigger World, designed for middle and
high school students, is a challenging interdisciplinary curriculum with
multiple subjects seamlessly integrated around a period of history. The
study of history is interwoven with literature, art, music, grammar,
science and mathematics to help students understand
the interrelated nature of our world and to learn how these subjects have
been viewed throughout time. Math & The Cosmos features multimedia lessons on angles, graphs, trigonometry, scientific notation, motion, the constellations and planets while integrating literature, history and science. This integrated curriculum captures the attention of even the most reluctant learner. Math & The Cosmos, along with its sister unit, Math & Music, not only meet state and national standards but allow students to exceed the standards. About the Association of Educational Publishers and its award programs The Golden Lamp Award is the Association's highest honor. It sets the quality standard for its category in the industry.
