Wildridge Education’s ‘Math & Music’ wins

prestigious children’s software award

Newark, VT. (March 17, 2003) – Wildridge Education, a division of Wildridge Software, Inc., today announced that their Math & Music integrated, cross-curricular course has received an All Star Software Award from Children’s Software Revue magazine. This award is part of an ongoing program that recommends software titles to teachers and parents looking for the best in interactive educational software for children.

"Math & Music emphasizes the practical value of fundamental math skills by relating these skills to the basic elements of music. Several interactive, self-paced tutorials explore the musical scale in relation to ratios, harmony and the physics of a vibrating string. The program involves a challenging mix of readings, multimedia lessons, hands-on experiments, Internet investigations, and written assignments. Math & Music also includes numerous print resources, an illustrated student text, math workbook, student guide with assignments, and a detailed teacher's guide with answers and suggestions. It is designed for middle and high school students."

"Math & Music challenges kids to make connections in fun and interesting ways," said Ann Orr, senior editor of Children’s Software Revue. "It is a terrific example of educational software that makes a valuable contribution to children’s interactive learning."

"We are very excited to receive this award," said Joan Bangs, Wildridge vice president. “As educators ourselves, it is rewarding to have our content validated by other educators. Our experience with Math & Music is that students get so involved with the subject matter that they usually exceed our expectations of what they can learn."
